I will have everyones schedule posted the week of the 10th so be sure to check the blog. I will not be sending notes home. Thank You!

COMPETITON CLINICS AND AUDIDIONS

Just a reminder, our clinics for Competition Team starts on Monday Aug. 10th, 11th and 12th. 1st - 3rd grade comes from 4-5, 4th - 6th grade comes from 5-6, and 7th grade and up will come from 6-7. Auditions will be on Thurs. Aug. 13th. If you are going to be out of town be sure to let me know so that we can set up a Audition date for you. (I would like to have it next Friday so please let me know) There is a $15.00 charge for the clinics and Auditions. We will continue to have regular dancing thru the month of Aug. except the week of Aug 24th there will be no dancing.

AUGUST PERFORMANCES

We have 2 performances coming up next week. I really hope everyone will make it! The first one is on Thurs. Aug. 6th at the Weber County Fair at 5:00. I need the girls to meet at the Rec. Hall Stage at 4:30 SHARP all ready to perform. I have tickets for all of the girls that I will hand out next week at dancing. The next performance is on Sat. Aug. 8th at South Weber Days. We will begin our day with riding in the Parade. The girls need to meet me at the beginning of the Parade, which is at the top of South Weber Drive by the Olympic Parking Lot at 10:30 a.m. SHARP. We will be in a Transport truck and trailer just off the side of the road. (I usually have the girls meet at the studio but this way the girls do not have to wait as long in the hot sun.) If you are late you may not get through on South Weber Dr. The girls will wear there costumes to ride in the parade because we will be performing right after at the Park. If you bought the shorts and tank at the recital the girls can wear that but be sure to meet them behind the Fire Station right after you see us pass the church so you can help them change into there costumes. The girls can throw candy on the float if they want to. As soon as we are done in the Parade I will take all of the girls behind the Fire Station and start lining them up for our performance. We perform at 12:45. A good place to watch the Parade is at the Church on South Weber Dr. You can then walk over to the Park for our performance.

RECITAL HANDBOOK

INTRODUCTION
This handbook is your key to a smooth recital experience. It should be able to answer your questions, and inform you of what is required from all students and families.
The recital will be a rewarding experience for all of our students. If this is your student’s first year at the Electric Youth Dance Company, we encourage the entire family to approach this milestone with support and enthusiasm. The benefits of performing in front of a live audience and participating in the artistic process of choreography, rehearsals, and teamwork are in numerous. Most important, each student is given the opportunity to be someone special – someone who has worked with diligence, determination, and heart to achieve her goals.
Performing on stage builds confidence and character; it gives one a sense of accomplishments and pride. These are qualities we want to see our children attain. The recital experience will help a child in other aspects of their personal lives at school, church, sports activities, and much more.

RECITAL FEE
Your $30.00 (per family) recital fee includes entrance fees for you, your family, and friends. This must be paid by June 17th. All dancers who have not paid by June 18th will be unable to participate in the dance recital. This fee goes towards the rental of the auditorium, tech fees and Janitor fees for our dress rehearsal and recital.

DRESS REHEARSAL (THURS, JUNE 18th)
The Dress Rehearsal is held at Roy High School. All classes will have stage time in which they will practice their routine with full costume, performance lights and music. Each class has only 10 minutes on the stage so please do not be late! The girls will be excused after they have practiced on the stage and gone through the finale. Everyone will need to be there at 4:00 SHARP! I will have a place for every class to sit and watch. Please do not be late.
My Little girls, (Belle, Cinderella and Tinkerbell) will be excused right after we go through the Finale witch should be at 5:10. If you are late you will miss your time on the stage.
When you get there come into the auditorium and sit with your class. I need everyone to stay in the auditorium!! I need all of the girls there! Parents are welcome to stay however please do not let other children run around and please keep quiet, sometimes the parents are louder than the girls.

VIDEOS
I have hired a professional video-ographer to video our recital. This is a professional quality keepsake that your family will enjoy for years. We will use two professional video cameras to film at dress rehearsal and at the recital. The cost for the DVD is $25.00 if ordered by June 22nd. I will have a order sheet at the Dress Rehearsal and also at the Recital.

RECITAL Mon. JUNE 22nd
The performance will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. All students must arrive and meet in the back hallway at 6:00 p.m. sharp!!
Students should use the restroom before their parents drop them off. I have Sunset Jr. Highs Cheerleaders there to help me with all of my little girls classes, So moms do not have to stay backstage.
We will warm up and then get lined up for our show to begin. After each class has performed the volunteer in charge of each class will take the girls back and start lining them up for the Finale. After the Finale, I will have all of the little one stay on the stage and parents can pick them up.
The doors will not open until 6:00 p.m. We then ask that you do NOT reserve more than six seats per dancer. All reserved seats should be let go five minutes before the recital.

UNPAID TUITION
All tuition, recital fees, and costume balances need to be paid on or before June 18th. If your account is not current your daughter will be unable to participate in our Dance Recital.

MAKE-UP
Make-up should be worn to performance and dress rehearsal. Eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lip liner and lipstick should be natural tones. Cheeks and lips should be reds or dark pinks. Competition teams should wear your competition make-up. Make-up should look natural, not heavy. If your performer does not have enough make-up on she will look washed out on stage. We want their beautiful features to be seen from a distance.

HAIR
(Alice in Wonderland is 1/2/of the hair both sides pulled up from behind the ears into a pony on the crown of head, with the rest down. I prefer no bangs)
*Tinkerbell - No socks with pink ballet shoes. Hair in Alice Wonderland curled.
*Cinderella - No socks, pink ballet shoes. Directions for hair above
*Belle - No socks, pink ballet shoes. Directions for hair above.
*Cruella - Bangs pulled back into bobby pins (Chihuahua) with hair CURLY, and headband in to hold the rest of hair out of eyes. Be sure to bobby pin the headband. No socks and black dance shoes.
* Hercules - Hair pulled up into a high pony CURLY, with headband bobby pined in. If hair is short just pull up half of hair.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua - Hair pulled up into a high pony CURLY, with headband bobby pined in. If your hair is short just pull up half of hair.
* Competition girls - same as competition.

EXTREME BOUTIQUE
We will be selling Electric Youth T-shirts and shorts. I will have sample sizes there for you to try on. I will order them on the 23rd and if you do not order at the dress rehearsal or recital you will not be able to get them. I am only putting in ONE order. They will be at the studio the first of July. We will wear these in the South Weber parade in Aug. (If you do not order a T-shirt and shorts you can wear your costume in the parade.)

I hope this answers all of your questions. I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to teach your daughters! I truly love each and every one of them, and look forward to sharing my love for dance with them for many years.
Love, Michele

NEW TIMES FOR LAS VEGAS COMPETITION

I am so excited for our Las Vegas Competition! I hope everyone is planning on going! I have only heard that 1 girl is not going so we will have a good turn out!
The Competition is on Sat. May 9th at Sierra Vista High School. 8100 West Robindale Road, Las Vegas. The girl need to be there at the following times.

Witch Doctor be there at 12:35
Raining Men be there at 2:30
Boogie That Be, be there at 3:10
Jr. High Hip Hop, be there at 4:45
Chicago Mix is right after your Hip Hop. (You only have 7 dances in between)

There have been a few people that are still interested in going on to California and doing a workshop in Disneyland. If we have 20 dancers we can still do this. Prices are really good for Disneyland passes and I know we can get some great deals on Hotels. If you are interested please let me know by this Sat. so that I can put everything together next week. I am thinking we could have Sunday free in California to do whatever you want and then do our workshop and go to Disneyland on Monday.

KANDI HAD HER BABY

Kandi and Nick had a beautiful baby girl on Monday April 13th. They named her Zoey and she weights 6 lbs 9 oz. and is 19 inches long. She is beautiful! Congratulations Kandi and Nick.

Tues. 6:15 class (Boogie That Be)

After seeing our costumes on, I feel like we needed to add some knee socks and black converse shoes to it. I have ordered socks for everyone and will have them at the competition on Sat. They only cost $6.75 so please bring the money for them to the competition. I need everyone to get black converse shoes. They do not need to be the name brand. I know they have them at Payless and also at Target. These are something I know the girls will get a lot of use out of them after our Competitions. Also it is so hard to get all of the girls hair looking the same so to make it easier we are going to get hair pieces to go around the girls pony tail. Go into Sallys on Riverdale Road and tell them you are with the Electric Youth and they will show you which hair pieces we are getting. you will still pull it up into the pony tail, but then you will put it in a bun, then the hair piece fits right around the pony. NO CURLING HAIR YEA! You will love these! The are only $7.99 and well worth it. Be sure to take the girls in to get a good color match. If you have any questions please call me.

Make- up for competition girls

I am only requiring everyone to get new eye shadow this year for our make-up kits. I believe everything else is pretty generic and you probably already have these things. The eye shadow everyone will need is from Victoria Secrets. It is the Beauty Rush brand. The first color is called GOLDBLINGER in the high sparkle, and the second color is BROWN TO EARTH. You will wear a dark brown eyeliner and a reddish color of blush. I will pick up the lip stick so you do not need to worry about that. If a few of you would like to go in on the shadows that is fine with me. You will put the goldblinger on the entire eyelid, then put just a little of the brown to earth in the creaseof the eyelid only half way across and then in the outside corner of the eye. Then take a brush to blend the eye shadow. Eye liner needs to go half way across the upper and lower lids right next to the lashes. Apply black mascara and blush, if you need to put on a little foundation and concealer to even out skin tone before you apply the blush. I will post the color of lipstick as soon as I get to the store.

You will need to turn in all order form and ONE check to me by Fri. Feb. 20th and you will pick up the pizzas on Wed. Feb. 25th. I have plenty of order forms at the studio. (Be sure you write your name on every order form, and only one order form per pizza)

Competition Dates

April 4th Energy Solutuions Areana
April 18th Smithfield
May 9th Las Vegas

Rooms at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas are running from about $80.00 to $100.00 a night. The group rates are no better than what you can get on your own so everyone just book your own reservations. You do not have to stay at the Monte Carlo but it is such a nice Hotel! They have a awesome pool area and a food court in the hotel with McDonalds and Subway in there, so you never have to leave the Hotel.

I have had several parents interested in going on to California after our Vegas Competition, so I am looking into a possible performance at Sea World (ONLY IF THE MAJORITY OF DANCERS GO) and a workshop at Disneyland. I will have packages up on the blog by the end of this week. Please send a note in with your daughter letting me know either yes or no about going onto California. Do not have tehm just tell me because I forget to easy! Please send it in writing. (either way)

Competition Fees

All competition fees are due by Wednesday January 28. No exeptions!
Competition fees depend on the number of routines each class will be competing.

Monday and Wednesday Jr. High Classes comp. fees are $38 for each competition. 3 competitions totals $114.

Tuesday 6:15-8:15 Class comp. fees are $88 (In Las Vegas we will be competing two routines, but at the first two competitions we will only be competing one). If the second routine is ready then it will be an additional $15 per routine. I will let you know if the additional comp. fees need to be paid.

Tuesday 4:15-6:15 class comp. fees are $88.

In December I did three different fund raisers to help those that needed it; however, very few took advantage of this opportunity. I will additionally have another pizza fundraiser available at the studio next week.
