I am so proud of all of my dancers! You are so amazing. I just got back from McKenzi's competition and saw a video of your performance and you did soooo well. Even after having to change the direction of your entrance at the last minute. You are all pros!
I understand that a few of the parents were a little upset about having to purchase a $5.00 ticket in order to have a seat. To my understanding you could of watched the performance from the side without purchasing a ticket. Unfortunately at MOST events there is a cover charge to view the event, regardless if your daughter is performing. I apologize for any inconvenience this may of caused.
Once again I am so very proud of our girls for there hard work. I hope everyone has a Merry Christams!

WEBER STATE PERFORMANCE
We have been invited to dance during halftime at the Weber State Girls Basketball game on Mon. Dec 15th. We will be doing our Christmas program. Please be at the Dee Events Center on Mon Dec 15th at 5:15pm SHARP with your costume on and hair done.
We will meet inside the doors on the North/West side by the ice sheet. The doors we go in has a ramp to walk down. We will have a short practice time on the floor between 5:30 and 5:45pm. Please be there by 5:15pm.
We will have time between the practice and the halftime show to do our makeup, eat, etc. If dancers want to leave with parents to eat and do their makeup they will need to be back at the Dee Events center by 7pm SHARP to line up for the halftime performance.
We are working on an extra practice on a bigger floor and we will call when and if we are able to schedule the extra practice.

Soldiers
You will wear your red shorts, red shirts with black tops over. Then you will wear your camo shorts over the red.

For our Christmas Show, the little elves will wear your black skort, black tank, red top, and your tan dance shoes. You will need a red Santa hat, and your hair will be in 2 low curly pig tails. On your red Santa hat, you need to cut 2 smalls lits on the red, 1 on each side of hat, right about the white. You will need to put at least 4 bobby pins in these slits to keep your hat from falling off during the performance. Please wear mascara, a little eyeliner, red blush, and red lipstick.
DOLLS:
For the Christmas show you will be wearing suntan tights and the red tutu dresses, with your tan dance shoes. Those of you that have the team makeup kit from last year, use that. If you don't, you need to use lavender eye shadow, charcoal eye liner, and a lot of mascara. You may even wear false eyelashes if you wish. You all need to wear your hair in Alice in Wonderland style with it curled (ringlets). I will give you a red bow to put in your hair.
JACK IN THE BOXES:
You will need to get a clown costume and a box big enough that when you squat down you fit in it. You will cut off the bottom and the top of the box and decorate it with either wrapping paper or however you would like. You will wear your tan dance shoes and hair can be however you would like, just as long as it is out of your face.

We will have regular classes on Monday and Tues. Nov. 24th and Nov. 25th. The following week we will also have regular class and on Thurs. Dec. 4th we will be practicing at the Rec. BUTTER BRAID FUNDRAISER
With costume deposit due we have started the Butter Braid fundraiser as of Nov. 19th I have order forms at the studio for everyone. You have until Dec. 4th to sell, then you will need to turn in your order form along with ONE check for $7.50 per braid sold by Dec. 5th. They will be delivered to the studio on Dec. 15th so everyone will have them before Christmas. You sell them for $12.00 and your profit is $4.50. We have sold these in the past and they do very well! FESTIVAL OF TREES PERFORMANCE (COMPETITION CLASSES)
We are performing at the Festival Of Trees on Friday Dec. 5th at 2:00 SHARP!! We will be performing on the large stage on the South side. The girls do not need tickets but parents do. You will take the girls to the check in table (in the foyer) at 2:00 and they will take you to our dressing room. I would like everyone to already have costumes on and hair done when you arive. If you have our team sweats you can wear them over the top of you costume. If you need to order sweats please let me know by Nov. 27th, I will order them on the 28th and we should get them by our Thurs. practice so you can wear them. I will collect them back after our performance so that I can get your names etc. one them before Christmas. Everyone will receive notes next week on how you are going to wear your hair and make-up. If you would like to buy discount tickets I have a few at the studio you can get from me.
Extra Practice for Festival of Trees
We will be having a extra practice at the South Weber Rec. Center on Thurs. Dec. 4th from 4:00-5:15. I would like this to be a dress rehearsal. POINSETTIA BOWL
I need your next payment of $200.00 per person by Friday Nov. 14th. The remaining balance will be due on Monday Dec. 1st. I will be measuring the girls this week at Dancing and I need to turn in a rooming list by this Friday Nov. 14th. This is a forward from Lauralyn Kofford about the Stadium of Fire DVD. I still have alot of you that the girls signed up for one but I never recieved the money for them. I had to pay for them on the 3rd of July when we ordered them. I'm sure some of you did was unawhere of this so I will send out invoices if you still owe for one. THANKS!

I just wanted to send out an update of the SOF dvd's cuz I know we are all anxiously waiting to get them!!! I just saw all the edited stuff and it looks awesome!!! I know you'll love seeing the photos and montages that have been put together for you. Now we are in the final stages of getting the master dvd completed. It is now a matter of putting the TV coverage of all our dance stuff onto the dvd. It's a different company that does the TV stuff vs. the company that handles the editing, so I've been juggling each company's schedules and have been told that everything should be totally completed and ready to be mailed out by two weeks from today. Which means, I'm hoping to get these in the mail to you by two weeks from Friday (Sept.26th). The dvd's are going to be great and all that hard work you put into our SOF show will be pretty fun to watch. So hang in there and just be a little more patient.
It'll be worth the wait, I promise.

Dance attire
It is very important that everyone wears the proper dance attire to dancing. This includes something that they can move well in (no levis) and everyone needs either ballet shoes or dance shoes. I have found some really cute dance outfits that I can order for all of the little ones that are hard to find thing to fit them, and the prices are great. I will have pictures of them on our blog by the end of Friday Sept. 12th along with a order form you can print out and return to me. I will be placing another shoe order on Sept. 25th if you need some dance shoes. My cost for leather ballet shoes are $12.00 and gore dance shoes are $35.00. I know this is cheaper than anyplace else but you are welcome to get them where ever you would like.
POINSETTIA BOWL
My Competition teams have been invited to perform at the Poinsettia Bowl this year in San Diego on Dec. 23rd. I have sent home the info with the girls but I know you don't always get it, and also the prices have changed (they are cheaper:) They are as follows. Non performers- Single $653.00, Double $527.00, Triple $485.00, Quad $464.00. If you are a performer add @65.00 to these prices and that includes your costumes, props, etc. I need a $200.00 deposit per person by Sept. 25th. This is such a great opportunity for the girls that does not come along often. The game will be televised live on ESPN. The prices above includes - 3 Night/4 Day Hotel Accomodations, all local transportation (Airport not included) Breakfast each morning (3), Catered lunces(3) Private Dinner and Show at Seaworld, Poinsettia Bowl Game tickets, Half Time Performance, Performers bag and T-Shirt, Expert Choreography, Event liability insurance, and a Master class by Lauralyn Kofford (optional)

Training class costumes run between $60.00- $75.00 and Competition Teams run between $75.00- $100.00. We will be doing several fund raisers throughout the year to help cover the cost of costumes. Once costumes are ordered there will be no refunds.
Dance recital
The dance recital will be held on MONDAY, June 22nd. The dress rehearsal will be on Thursday, June 18th . I try to stay away from the weekends in the summer, because so many families go out of town. There is a $30.00 recital fee per family due by June 1st.
No street shoes are allowed on the dance floor. No gum allowed in the studio!

Training class costumes run between $60.00- $75.00 and Competition Teams run between $75.00- $100.00. We will be doing several fund raisers throughout the year to help cover the cost of costumes. Once costumes are ordered there will be no refunds.
Dance recital
The dance recital will be held on MONDAY, June 22nd. The dress rehearsal will be on Thursday, June 18th . I try to stay away from the weekends in the summer, because so many families go out of town. There is a $30.00 recital fee per family due by June 1st.
No street shoes are allowed on the dance floor. No gum allowed in the studio!

By the very nature of the activity, gymnastics and dance carry a risk of physical injury. No matter how careful the student and instructors are, the risk cannot be 100% eliminated. Reduced, yes, but never eliminated.
I hereby release the Electric Youth Dance Co. Michele Bowen and staff, from all claims of damages or injuries suffered by the above registered student/students in connection with their association with the Electric Youth Dance Co.

Pictures
We had a couple of people say that some photo places would not let them print pictures without a copyright release. If you need one, there will be one at the studio probably next week. Also, if you have not got your CD or picture yet, they will also be at the studio next week.

Competition Clinics & Auditions
I already have some fun performances lined up for our next years competition teams. We have 2 halftime performances at Weber State University, and Festival of the Trees is already scheduled.
We will be having our clinics for Competition Team On Tues. Aug. 12th, Wed. Aug. 13th and Thurs. Aug. 14th at the following times.
1st - 3rd grade 4:00-5:00
4th - 6th grade 5:00-6:00
7th grade and up 6:00-7:00
If you are going into 6th grade and are a more advanced dancer please come to both the 5:00 and 6:00 clinic. Auditions will be held on Monday Aug. 18th. You will receive your audition time at our last clinic. Parents are welcome to come the last 15 minutes of the 2nd clinic to video. Because there is not a lot of room I will not be letting anyone stay in and watch. If you have any questions about competition team or our clinics please call me.
The cost for the clinics and audition is $15.00. Please bring it to the first clinic. I will have someone in the office taking money.

Stadium of Fire
WOW, what a show!! I want to thank all of my dancers for being so amazing at the Stadium of Fire. These girls were out practicing in over 100 degree weather for over 18 hours total. (that does not even include the hours of practice with me at the studio, and the hours that each girl practiced at home on their own.) Not once did one girl complain, and every time that music came on each girl was smiling and dancing her heart out! I am so proud and admire each one of you dancers.
The night of the show I was putting all of your basketballs into the prop room and Celestial (one of the choreographers) stopped me to tell me how awesome my girls were. She thanked us for showing up prepared, with the dance clean and every girl knowing what she is doing. There were several studios that did not rehearse enough which made for a lot longer practices for us:(
I also want to thank all of you parents for your support! And to all of those Moms and Brian that stood out in the heat with us and walked up and down our lines giving the girls water, grapes, orange slices and spraying them with water trying to cool them off, all while the girls were dancing. What troopers!!
There are not enough words to describe how much I love and appreciate all of you. Thanks for everything!

RECITAL HANDBOOK
INTRODUCTION
This handbook is your key to a smooth recital experience. It should be able to answer your questions, and inform you of what is required from all students and families.
The recital will be a rewarding experience for all of our students. If this is your student’s first year at the Electric Youth Dance Company, we encourage the entire family to approach this milestone with support and enthusiasm. The benefits of performing in front of a live audience and participating in the artistic process of choreography, rehearsals, and teamwork are innumerous. Most important, each student is given the opportunity to be someone special – someone who has worked with diligence, determination, and heart to achieve her/his goals.
Performing on stage builds confidence and character; it gives one a sense of accomplishments and pride. These are qualities we want to see our children attain. The recital experience will help a child in other aspects of their personal lives at school, church, sports activities, and much more.
RECITAL FEE
Your $30.00 (per family) recital fee includes entrance fees for you, your family, and friends. This must be paid by June 17th. All dancers who have not paid by June 19th will be unable to participate in the dance recital. This fee goes towards the rental of the auditorium for our dress rehearsal and recital.
DRESS REHEARSAL (THURS, JUNE 19th)
The Dress Rehearsal is held at Roy High School. All classes will have stage time in which they will practice their routine with full costume, performance lights and music. Each class has only 10 minutes on the stage so please do not be late! I need all dancers at Roy High School Auditorium in Thurs. June 19th at 5:00 SHARP!!! (All ready) Everyone will need to come in a find where there class is sitting, and stay with there class! My little classes (Under The Sea, I’m Cute and Beyond The Sea.) will come directly up on the stage to stage left and line up to do there dances. We only have time to do each dance once on the stage so do not be late! After that we will do the Finale with everyone and then my 3 little classes are excused to go home. After your class is done doing there dance on the stage and we have gone through the Finale, I will excuse you to go. DO NOT BE LATE! Or you will miss your time on the stage. Parents are welcome to stay however please do not let other children run around and please keep quiet, sometimes the parents are louder than the girls.
VIDEOS
I have hired a professional video-ographer to video our recital. This is a professional quality keepsake that your family will enjoy for years. We will use two professional video cameras to film at dress rehearsal and at the recital. The cost of the DVD is $25.00. You will be able to order this at the Dress Rehearsal and Recital.
RECITAL MON. JUNE 23rd The performance will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. All students must arrive and meet in the back hallway at 6:30 p.m. sharp!!
Students should use the restroom before their parents drop them off. After the Finale, I will have all of the little one stay on the stage and parents can pick them up.
The doors will not open until 6:30 p.m. We then ask that you do NOT reserve more than five seats per dancer. All reserved seats should be let go five minutes before the recital.
UNPAID TUITION
All tuition, recital fees, and costume balances need to be paid on or before June 19th. If your account is not current your daughter will be unable to participate in our Dance Recital.
