Fall Classes

It's always fun to start fresh classes in the Fall. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of fun, learning, hard work, expanding your dance knowledge and talent, creating memories and building friendships that will last a lifetime. Everyone received a new 2013-2014 Registration Form. I need this filled out and returned to me as soon as possible. All Competition Teams need to fill out their order form for practice outfits and return that along with a check ASAP.

The new road going into the studio should be paved by the end of next week :) Thank you for being so patient during all of the construction! To help with the traffic flow, if you could drop your kids off 5 minutes before class and have everyone go through the middle office (under the car port) and then pick kids up 5 minutes after class. I know this is not always possible but if most of you do this it will help a ton!

Please have the kids bring a water bottle to dance or I have some at the studio they can purchase for $1.00. Make sure you put names on all jackets and shoes. Our lost and found is getting very big and there are a lot of really nice things in it so please have the kids look to see if anything is theirs.

Fall Class Schedules

Fall Classes start on Tues. Sept 3rd.  If you are in Monday Class it will start on Sept. 9th and they will still get 4 weeks in because there are 5 Mondays in Sept.

If they made competition team and are not sure what day they come please refer back to their email that was sent and look at the attachment. If they are still not sure please email me.

**All Disneyland money is Due before Sept. 9th!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!**

Swim Party

On Thurs Aug. 15th we will be having our annual Electric Youth swimming party! It will be at my Mom's house (white brick house just West of the Studio) from 12:00-2:00. If the girls cannot swim REALLY good  then a parent will need to come swim with them. We have a new slide at the pool and it ends up in the deep end so please discus this with your kids so they know to not go down it or jump off of the diving board if they cannot swim. Life vests are highly recommended for those kids also. You are welcome to bring a treat to share if you would like. Please bring the kids on time and pick them up on time.

I understand this is the same day as auditions for our Competition Teams but they will not start until after 4:00. I cannot believe that summer is almost over :(

END OF SUMMER DANCE SCHEDULE

Because Weber County starts school on the 20th we will go back to night classes starting Tues. Aug. 20th. So if you come on Mondays you will stay in the A.M. for the 19th but Tues, Wed and Thurs. classes will go back to evenings, the same time you came throughout the winter.  We will take off the week of Aug. 26th and then starting Sept. you will begin your new Fall schedule which everyone will get after auditions or if you are not trying out for Competition you will get notes next week.

If you have a little one that is in preschool that is dancing right now or would like to start dance (ages 3 and up) please email me there preschool schedule so I can get their classes going for the fall with no conflicts.

DISNEYLAND

The following are the due dates for everyone doing the Disneyland Performance

Dancers deposit due NOW

Aug. 14th - order costumes. I need all of the girls at the Studio on Monday Aug. 12 at 7:15 to be measured for the costumes.

Sept. 1st - All ticket money due.

Final payment due. Last day to add a dancer, but cost has gone up

Final date to make changes to your ticket order to avoid late fee.

 
Cut-off date for the following to be received by Dance the Magic:

Disney/DTM Waiver Release forms for all dancers, directors & chaperones

Birth Certificates for all dancers age 6-8

Director/Chaperone Agreement forms (for your backstage credentials)

Studio Participation Agreement

I will be emailing everyone the above forms.

Oct. 11 - ticket come and we will begin rehearsals. I will send out a rehearsal schedule

Oct. 15th - cut off day to book your Disneyland Hotel

 

 

CLINICS AND AUDITIONS FOR COMPETITION TEAMS

Our Clinics for Competition Teams will be on Aug. 12, 13, and 14th. Times are as follows:
1st-3rd grade 4:00-5:00
4th-6th - 5:00-6:00
7th and up will come from 6:00-7:00
There is a $15.00 charge for all of the clinics and Audition. If you would like to purchase a CD with the music please send $2.00. Parents may come in a video the last 10 minutes of clinics.

Auditions will be on Thurs. Aug. 15th starting at 4:00. You will receive your audition time on Wed. the 14th your clinic.

SUMMER PRFORMANCES

We will be performing at the Weber County Fair on Wed. Aug. 7th. Be there all ready to perform at the McKay Dee Stage at 5:45 sharp!

On Sat. Aug. 10th we will be in the South Weber Days Parade and then perform at the park right after the parade. I will have the girls meet me at the line up, which is at the top of South Weber Dr. at 10:30 a.m. We will be on a trailer pulled by a Semi Truck on the East side of South Weber Dr. just North of the Apartments. Do not go up into the Olympic parking lot where everyone else lines up, we cannot fit the Semi up there so we stay on South Weber Dr. behind the Fire trucks. The girls can wear their summer shorts and tanks if they would like but please be sure to meet them at the park as soon as they get done so that they can change into their costumes. There are no dressing rooms so you will have to find a corner someplace. For you parents that do not have a place to watch the parade you can watch it from the Church on South Weber Dr. The Park is just west of the Church. I will take the girls behind the stage and that is where you can meet them to change into costumes. Please send the girls with candy to throw during the parade and a water bottle because it is hot!

PICTURE MAKE UP DAY

Due to the bad weather on picture day we had to cancel some of our class pictures. We  have rescheduled it for Wed. July 31st. It will be at the same park, Cedar Cove Park in South Weber. (1983 East 7550 South) Times are listed below.

RECITAL HANDBOOK (Rehearsal June 20th, Recital June 24th)


INTRODUCTION




    This handbook is your key to a smooth recital experience. It should be able to answer all of your questions, and inform you of what is required from all students and families.

  The recital will be a rewarding experience for all of our students. If this is your child's first year at the Electric Youth Dance Company, we encourage the entire family to approach this milestone with support and enthusiasm. The benefits of performing in front of a live audience and participating in the artistic process of choreography, rehearsals, and teamwork are in numerous. Most important, each student is given the opportunity to be someone special someone who has worked with diligence, determination, and heart to achieve her goals.
    Performing on stage builds confidence and character; it gives one a sense of accomplishments and pride. These are qualities we want to see our children attain. The recital experience will help a child in other aspects of their personal lives at school, church, sports activities, and much more.

 RECITAL FEE

     Your $35.00(per family, which means sisters and brothers not cousins) recital fee includes entrance fees for you, your family, and friends. This must be paid by June 15th. All dancers who have not paid this before Dress Rehearsal will be unable to participate in the dance recital. This fee goes towards the rental of the auditorium, tech fee, Janitor fees, props, and decorations for our Dress Rehearsal and Recital. This way you can invite whoever you would like and they do not need to pay a fee to see you.
 
DRESS REHEARSAL (THURS, JUNE 20th)

    The Dress Rehearsal is held at Northridge High School. All classes will have stage time in which they will practice their routine with full costume, performance lights and music. Each class has only 10 minutes on the stage so please do not be late! The girls will be excused after they have practiced on the stage and gone through the finale. Please do not be late.

When you get there come into the auditorium and sit with your class. I need everyone to stay in the auditorium!!  Parents are welcome to stay however please do not let other children run around and please keep quiet, sometimes the parents are louder than the girls.

Rehearsal Times - Everyone be there at 4:00 sharp and the following classes will be excused at 5:45. "Yellow Polka Dot  Bikini" "Boot Scoot Boogie" "Jailhouse Rock" "Vogue" "Boys Hip Hop"  and "California Girls." Tumbling classes will be excused at 6:00. If you are on the "Mini Extreme" Team you will be excused at 6:30, "Premier Extreme" will be excused at 6:45, "Jr. Extreme" will be excused at 7:00 and the rest of my Competition Teams will be excused at 8:00. "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" is first so please be on time.

 PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOS

    I have hired a professional video-ographer to video our recital. This is a professional quality keepsake that your family will enjoy for years! We will use two professional video cameras to film the recital. The cost for the DVD is $25.00. You will be able to order your copy at the rehearsal or email me. This will need to be paid for by the Rehearsal.   

RECITAL MON. JUNE 24th
 
   The performance will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. All students must arrive and meet in the  back hallway at 6:00 p.m. sharp!!
    Students should use the restroom before their parents drop them off, I will have helpers back stage so moms do not have to stay backstage.
    We will warm up and then get lined up for our show to begin. After each class has performed the volunteer in charge of each class will take the girls back and start lining them up for the Finale. After the Finale, I will have all of the little ones stay on the stage and parents can pick them up.
    The doors will not open until 6:00 p.m. We then ask that you do NOT reserve more than five seats per dancer. All reserved seats should be let go five minutes before the recital. 
 

UNPAID TUITION

 
   All tuition, recital fees, and costume balances need to be paid on or before June 15th. If your account is not current your daughter will be unable to participate in our Dance Recital.
   

MAKE-UP

    Make-up should be worn to performance and dress rehearsal. Eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lip liner and lipstick should be natural tones. Cheeks and lips should be reds or dark pinks. Competition teams should wear your competition make-up. Make-up should look natural, not heavy. If your performer does not have enough make-up on she will look washed out on stage. We want their beautiful features to be seen from a distance.
 

HAIR - (I will describe what Alice Wonderland hair at end)

* “Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” hair in Alice and Wonderland curled,  no socks and black ballet shoes.
* “Vogue” Part hair on the right side and french braid bangs only then pull all of hair up into a HIGH back pony, curled!  Black ballet shoes or black jazz shoes (below is a picture of hair)
* “Boot Scoot Boogie” – hair in low pig tails, curled, Black ballet shoes. Be sure to secure their cowgirl hats with bobby pins so they do not fall off. (I will send hats home next week.)
 * “Jailhouse Rock” – hair in a high back pony tail (on the crown of head) curled with headband in. (bobby pin the headband!) Black ballet shoes.
* "California Girls" – I will let you know on Thurs.
* “Boys Hip Hop”  You will need to get your own “Zombie” costume. (watch the video of Thriller to get ideas)
* Tumblers – If you are in a dance class keep hair the same. If you are only doing tumbling pull hair out of face into a pony tail, curled. Wear our new summer shorts and T shirts with no shoes or socks.
* Ballet class – You will wear your tights with the ballet costume and your tan gore jazz shoes. Hair is the same as Teams.
* Competition girls – Same as you did for competition. For rehearsal we will not have time to change costumes so please wear your main costume and bring the others. (Mini’s will just take off their jackets for their second dance so be sure name are on everything)
EVERYONE- Be sure to bobby pin headbands etc. in hair!!!
Alice Wonderland hair - part hair right behind ears and pull up both sides into a pony at the crown of head. So the back of hair will be down but the front will be pulled out of eyes. Even if hair is short you should be able to pull up the sides. If not just curl hair. (pink spongy curlers work best to curl hair) I prefer no bangs.

Vogue Hair -  The pony needs to be really curly!!!

IMPORTANT DATES

Everyone will be performing at the Weber County Fair on Wed. Aug. 7th at 6:00 p.m.

We will also be in the South Weber Days Parade and then perform right after on Sat. Aug. 10th at 10:00 a.m..

Please put these dates on your calendar! Performing is the payoff of all their hard work!

SUMMER

Our summer schedule begins next week (The week of June 10th) We still have regular night classes until then.

The Ballet classes will also begin on Monday June 10th. Ballet begins this week. Times are as follows: 5-8 year old come from 4:15-5:15, 9-11 year old come 5:15-6:15 and 12 and up come from 6:15-7:15.

Recital DVD

I have hired a Professional Video-ographer to video our Recital. You will have some backstage footage as well as all of the Performances. This is a great keepsake for all of the kids! I try to keep this as cheap as possible only charging you what the Company charges me. Because there is a minimum charge, the more people order the cheaper I can sell them to you. I have to start out at $25.00 but again if everyone orders a video it could become as cheap as $10.00 a video. Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing one. I know if you are like me I would lots rather just sit back and enjoy the show instead of worrying about videoing and most of the time the battery is dead, someone walks in front of you or you forget your camera all together. SUMMER PRACTICE OUTFITS

I will be placing an order for Summer Practice Outfits on Tues. June 4th. They are really cute! (picture below) They will have" E.Y.E. Dance" on the shirt. If you are in tumbling and are planning on participating in the Recital this is what you will wear. Please email me what size you want me to order for you before June 4th. My email is micheleben4@hotmail.com. The shorts come in youth small - youth large and adult xs - adult xxlarge. (description - 1.6 oz 100% nylon, features compression short liner.)
Top come in the same sizes as the shorts. (description - Constructed from luxurious 2x1, 5 oz 100% combed ring spun cotton. Features 2x1 ribbed biding on neck and arms.
The cost of the outfit is $25.00. I will need these paid for before June 4th. We will also be wearing these for the South Weber Days Parade in Aug.

If you come on Thurs. from 4:15-5:15 right now, starting on Thurs. June 13th you will come from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Thurs. 5:15 class will stay the same.
Thurs. Competition class will stay the same. 6:15-8:15
Thurs. 8:15 class will also stay the same.

SUMMER SCHEDULE

I am so looking forward to Summer!!! Our Summer schedule will begin the week of June 10th. If you have any questions please let me know. The first time posted is when they come right now and after that will be your Summer schedule.

Monday - 1:00-2:00 now, will come on Mondays 12:00-1:00 p.m
Monday - 4:14-5:15 now, will come on Mondays 11:00-12:00 a.m.
Monday - 5:15-6:15 now, will come on Mondays 10:00-11:00 a.m (This is a tumbling class)
Monday - 6:15 class now will come on Mondays 8:00-10:00 a.m.
I am starting a 3 year old class on Mondays from 1:00-1:30. If you are interested please let me know.

Tues - 4:15 class now, will come on Tues. 10:00-12:00 a.m.
Tues. 6:15 class now, will come on Tues. 8:00-10:00 a.m.

Wed. 4:15 -5:15 class now, will come on Wed. 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Wed. 5:15 class now, will come on Wed. 9:00-10:00 a.m (This is a tumbling class)
Wed. 6:15 Competition Team will stay the same.

Thurs. class - I will post them on Friday. I need to talk to everyone and see what is going to work best. I was planning on doing that last week but I ended up really sick on Thurs. so I could not teach.

I am starting some ballet/technique classes on Mondays with an amazing Ballet teacher!!!!!! If you are interested please let me know. If you are already taking 1 or more classes this will only be an additional $25.00 a month. Times are as follows:
Monday 4:15-5:15 p.m. will be 5-8 year old
Monday 5:15-6:15 p.m. will be 9-11 year old
Monday 6:15-7:15 p.m. will be 12 and up.

I am also starting a cheer class on Tues. from 5:30-6:30. Depending on the ages that we get interested we may spilt this into 2 different groups but both will be on Tues.
