Comp. Team update and Festival of Tree Tickets

Hi, I just wanted to give everyone an update. I have order practice outfits, they are being made so it will still be a couple of weeks before we get these. I ordered all of the footundies that have been paid for. Everyone is required to have these this year. They are not the same style as previous years. I have found a much better shoe for the same price. If you did not order and pay for these I will place one more order next week on Friday Sept. 28th so please send that in next week. I received sample sizes of the jazz gore boots that we usually get but the have changed the leather and I did not like them at all so I have order a different style that will be here any day to try on the girls that ordered them. Again these are also required, if you have some from last year you can use those. I have a few that have not paid for anything yet. Please be sure to get that into me at your next dance class or you can stick it in the mail. 1122 East Skyhaven Cove, South Weber Utah 84405.
We have a Parents meeting scheduled for Oct. 3rd however I still have not received information on all of the Competitions yet so I am changing that meeting to Wed. Oct. 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the South Weber Family Rec. Center.
If you would like to purchase discount tickets for the Festival of Trees please checkyour email because I sent everyone a form with this email. Please fill it out and return it to me before Oct. 20th. The performers do not need to purchase a ticket. Prices are listed on the form.
I have a couple of fundraisers that we will be starting. Please look for an email from me in the next day or two with all of the details.
Thanks to everyone that was able to make it to our Dance Party! It was a lot of fun. We assigned big/little sisters there. If you missed the party I will assign you a sister.
Please check out our pictures below :)

Thanks,
Michele

SWIMMING PARTY

On Monday Aug. 13th we will be having our anual Electric Youth swimming party! It will be at my Mom's house (white brick house just West of the Studio) from 3:00-5:00. If the girls cannot swim REALLY good  then a parent will need to come swim with them. We have a new slide at the pool and it ends up in the deep end so please discuse this with your kids so they know to not go down it or off of the diving board if they cannot swim. Life vests are highly recommended for those kids also. You are welcome to bring a treat to share if you would like. Please bring the kids on time and pick them up on time. Thanks!!

2012 Recital Handbook

ELECTRIC YOUTH DANCE CO. RECITAL HANDBOOK

Monday June 18th, 2012 Northridge High School

INTRODUCTION
This handbook is your key to a smooth recital experience. It should be able to answer your questions, and inform you of what is required from all students and families.
The recital will be a rewarding experience for all of our students. If this is your student’s first year at the Electric Youth Dance Company, we encourage the entire family to approach this milestone with support and enthusiasm. The benefits of performing in front of a live audience and participating in the artistic process of choreography, rehearsals, and teamwork are innumerous. Most important, each student is given the opportunity to be someone special someone who has worked with diligence, determination, and heart to achieve her/his goals.
Performing on stage builds confidence and character; it gives one a sense of accomplishments and pride. These are qualities we want to see our children attain. The recital experience will help a child in other aspects of their personal lives at school, church, sports activities, and much more.

RECITAL FEE
Your $35.00(per family (sisters and brothersonly, not cousins) recital fee includes entrance fees for you, your family, and friends. This must be paid by June 15th. All dancers who have not paid by June 15th will be unable to participate in the dance recital. This fee goes towards the rental of the auditorium, tech fees and Janitor fees for our Dress Rehearsal and Recital. This way you can invite whoever you would like and they do not need to pay a fee to see you.

DRESS REHEARSAL (Friday, JUNE 15th)
The Dress Rehearsal is held at Northridge High School. All classes will have stage time in which they will practice their routine with full costume, performance lights and music. Each class has only 10 minutes on the stage so please do not be late! The girls will be excused after they have practiced on the stage and gone through the finale. Please do not be late. (If you are on the Competition Team please plan on staying there until 8:00 except for my “minis” you will be excused at 7:30.
When you get there come into the auditorium and sit with your class. I need everyone to stay in the auditorium!!  Parents are welcome to stay however please do not let other children run around and please keep quiet, sometimes the parents are louder than the girls.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOS
I have hired a professional video-ographer to video our recital. This is a professional quality keepsake that your family will enjoy for years! We will use two professional video cameras to film the recital. The cost for the DVD is $27.00. You will be able to order your copy at the rehearsal. I have to sell a min. of 25 videos so please support us in this so that we can continue to enjoy this opportunity!!!

RECITAL MON. JUNE 18th
The performance will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. All students must arrive and meet in the  back hallway at 6:00 p.m. sharp all ready to perform!!  Our preshow will begin at 6:40.
Students should use the restroom before their parents drop them off. I have Sunset Jr. Highs Cheerleaders there to help me with all of my little girl’s classes, so moms do not have to stay backstage.
We will warm up and then get lined up for our show to begin. After each class has performed the volunteer in charge of each class will take the girls back and start lining them up for the Finale. After the Finale, I will have all of the little ones stay on the stage and parents can pick them up.
If you have a daughter that is on the Competition Team they will need some assistants in costume changes. Please meet them on stage left in the dressing rooms. I will post the order for the Recital so that you can be prepared.
The doors will not open until 6:00 p.m. We then ask that you do NOT reserve more than five seats per dancer. All reserved seats should be let go five minutes before the recital.
UNPAID TUITION
All tuition, recital fees, and costume balances need to be paid on or before June 15th. If your account is not current your daughter will be unable to participate in our Dance Recital.

MAKE-UP
Make-up should be worn to performance and dress rehearsal. Eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lip liner and lipstick should be natural tones. Cheeks and lips should be reds or dark pinks. Competition teams should wear your competition make-up. Make-up should look natural, not heavy. If your performer does not have enough make-up on she will look washed out on stage. We want their beautiful features to be seen from a distance.

COMPETITION TEAMS

Hi, here is an update of all of our upcoming events. Our first Competition is at Clearfield High School on Sat. April 21st, Our second Competition is Sat. April 28th at Weber State Dee Event Center and our 3rd Competition is on Sat May 5th in Las Vegas. (I do not get times until about 2 weeks before) I have been checking on rooms in Las Vegas and I found a GREAT price at the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa. The price was 99.00 a night!! WOW!! They have a bowling alley, swimming pool, spa, 16 screen movie theater and a Casino. You are welcome to stay wherever you would like but if you want to stay where I will be :) jump online and book your reservations. The group rate was the same price so it is easier to just have everyone book their own rooms. If you are not going to Las Vegas please let me know ASAP. (I have heard from a couple of you but please respond again to this email)
I sent out an email in Dec about a Tuachann performance and I only heard back from 11 people interested in doing this so I guess we will maybe work on that for next year. I did have more people interested in going on to California after Vegas so I am working on that now. If you are thinking of going to Disneyland sometime this year you will want to come with us because we get GREAT prices into the park! For a 3 day hooper pass it is $149.00. Regular rate is 199.00. BIG SAVINGS! You do not need to do a 3 day pass, they have 1,2,3,4 or 5 day passes available all at a great savings. I will need to start working on this ASAP!! I am sure I can get us rooms for around $100.00 a night. We will set up a Disney Workshop for the girls which is so much fun!! If you are interested please let me know ASAP!!!!!! Even if you said yes to my earlier email please respond again. I am planning on leaving for California either right after our Competition on Sat. May 5th (depending what time that is) or early May 6th. I will do the Workshop either Monday or Tues. depending on availability. You are welcome to stay as long as you would like.
By now everyone should of paid all of the Competition fees, and your $50.00 costume deposit. A $20.00 Prop fee is due this and I will have a total for you on costumes next week, which the balance will be due in March. We have done some great Fundraiser to help cover these costs and I am working on some new ones for us to start soon.

I hope I have not missed anything. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for letting me teach your daughters, I love them all to pieces!

Michele
